As you all know, Coca-Cola is the beverage the majority of us know and love even though we know that drinking Coca-Cola isn’t the best thing for our health. It’s tasty and refreshing, and that’s why it has stayed the one of the most popular beverage in the world for decades.
I’m sure that, other than drinking it, a lot of you have tried to use Coca-Cola for other purposes, such as defrosting a windshield, getting rid of a gum in your hair and many other cleaning purposes, whether you have discovered it accidentally by spilling the beverage and noticing it could get rid of the stains, or you simply wanted to experiment, and it was successful.
And while it’s known that Coca-Cola can unclog the drains in a matter of minutes better than the majority of unclogging products on the market, it can clean a lot more than that. So, if you avoid drinking this beverage, you can at least use it as an efficient and affordable cleaning product.
So, without further ado, I’m going to describe all of the cleaning uses of Coca-Cola that I know of.
Coca-Cola Cleaning Uses
As said, a can of Coca-Cola can clean your drain very quickly, all you have to do is pour it in the drains, wait for a couple of minutes and rinse with warm water. The acidity of the beverage will dissolve all of the food and grease residues on the walls of the pipes and remove them effortlessly.
If it works better than 99% of the popular and very powerful unclogging solutions on the market, imagine what it could do if used for other cleaning purposes as well.
Other than searching the internet, I tried a few experiments and discovered a lot of cool options to use this beverage on and be happy with the results.
We know how expensive a good and efficient cleaning product can be, that’s why you should try to use Coca-Cola as an alternative in the following situations:
1. Say goodbye to rust!
The most popular experiment that my parents used, in order to show me how Coca-Cola is bad for my health (and I’m sure that many of you find this familiar), is to put a rusty screw in the glass filled with Coca-Cola and leave it like that for a few minutes. As you can imagine, the screw was completely clean and rust-free after that.
I remembered this trick twenty years later and decided to try it out with the old gardening tools that I wanted to get rid of. Even though they were good tools, I didn’t know how to clean them, and that’s when I tried using Coca-Cola.
Not only did it make the cleaning easier, but it completely got rid of the rust, and all I had to do is rinse the tools and dry them with a cloth.
So, if you have anything that’s rusty and you want to try to clean it and save it, Coca-Cola will most certainly help with that.
2. Better than stain removers
After removing rust from my tools, I started to wonder if Coca-Cola could clean fabric.
Since I had some oily cloths and some clothes with milk stains, I poured a bit of the beverage on the stains. I waited for a few minutes and rinsed the fabric with warm water. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the stains were completely gone.
You can use Coca-Cola to get rid of the food (and other) stains on your clothes, couch, carpets etc. If the stains are a bit more stubborn, you can use a toothbrush and clean the previously soaked stain with it. I assure you it will help a lot.
It is also a great way to remove blood stains from your clothes and other fabric. The blood stains can be pretty difficult to get rid of, and you could end up with your favorite piece of clothes completely ruined, but if you try using Coca-Cola, you won’t have to say goodbye to it.
3. Bye-bye marker stains
If you have kids that love their markers and their artistic spirit makes them want to draw on the carpet, Coca-Cola will rescue it. If you use a stain remover mixed with water, there is a big chance that the stain will spread, and it could be even worse.
Of course, you can go and purchase a really expensive stain remover that could clean it, but why would you spend a lot of money if the solution is so simple. A can of Coca-Cola will be enough, and your carpet and furniture will be clean again.
4. Clean tiles
I don’t know about you, but I really hated cleaning the bathroom and kitchen tiles because I struggled a lot with the space between tiles. I had never been able to clean it 100%, and I was really upset because of that.
As soon as I tried using Coca-Cola, the tile grout was completely scale-free. I sprayed a generous amount all over the tiles; let it sit for a few minutes and then I simply wiped it with a cloth.
I didn’t have to spend an hour cleaning it since the acid from the beverage took care of it quickly.
5. Clean toilet
After having success with the tile grout, I did the same thing with the toilet. I poured an entire bottle into the toilet, also waited for a couple of minutes, used a brush just in case and flushed the toilet. It was completely clean, shiny and odor-free.
If the water in the area that you live in is hard, you know the trouble of having to clean scale almost every day. The acidity from Coca-Cola will dissolve it, and it will be easier to clean and flush away.
You can also use the beverage on other objects in your home that get filthy because of the stubborn scale, such as bathtub, shower, sink etc.
6. Clean pans
If you, just like me, had to get rid of your favorite pan that was really expensive because you couldn’t clean it from burnt food and oil, you know what a bad feeling that is.
High-quality pans and dishes are really expensive, and it’s an investment you want to use for decades.
If this happens again, remember to use Coca-Cola, and you won’t have to get rid of an expensive pan ever again.
Fill your pan with the beverage and put it on the burner to boil. After that, rinse with hot water and your pan will be as good and shiny as new.
7. Crystal clean windshield
After the rain, your car is always dirty and sticky, especially if after the rain there is a lot of dust.
In this case, you should soak a good cloth in a bowl of Coca-Cola. Rub your windshield carefully and be mindful not to touch the rest of the car with that cloth since it could damage the paint.
Rinse with a hose and the windshield will be clean again.
8. Cleaner for windows and glasses
Similar to the previously mentioned situation, you can use Coca-Cola to clean your windows, glasses and any other glass surface. When it comes to windows, spay a generous amount of the beverage and wipe with a normal cloth. The acid will melt the dirt and make your windows clean.
When cleaning the glasses, pour a bit of the beverage on the lenses and wipe with a cloth, then rinse with water and wipe again until there’s no stickiness.
9. Oil-free garage
I’m sure that every garage gets dirty and has oil stains every once in a while and that’s completely normal considering your car and other tools are in there.
Soak any oil stain with Coca-Cola, wait for a couple of minutes, you can also use a brush to clean it a bit better, if needed, and then rinse with water and leave it to dry.
10. Clean coins and old jewelry
We all know that bronze and silver can get dirty as time passes. They usually become a bit black and rusty.
You can fill a bowl with Coca-Cola, place the coins and jewelry inside the beverage and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
As soon as you get them out, you’ll notice that the dirt is melting. Rinse with water, dry it and it will look as good as new.
Final Word: Coca-Cola Cleaning Uses
As you can see, even though Coca-Cola is probably bad for your health and organs, and after reading this you probably won’t consider drinking it again, it can come in handy if you need something efficient and affordable to help you with cleaning.
You can use it for a lot of different cleaning purposes and make the process faster, easier and cheaper.
