Pull the collet in the direction of fitting and the tubing away from it. The direction of pulling collect and tubing should be in opposite directions. Pull them both at the same time. By this, the small teeth inside the collet start leaving the fitting, and you can get rid of the quick connection.
How Do You Use a Quick Connect?
The ability to connect a tube with a fitting in a quick way is known as quick connect. Quick connect is the fastest way. It provides a water-tight connection. You can easily connect with the tubing and the applications of water treatment.
Use of Quick Connect
Quick connect has an effortless design. There are three components in quick connect. These three components include

The fitting body hides the collet and O-ring on either side. It means that you have inserted the tubing through the collet correctly. From the collet, it is then going through the O ring and then in the body of the fitting.
The three components of quick connect then give a water-tight seal. In this way, you can easily use the quick connector. Make sure that you insert the tubing in the fitting completely.
If this does not happen properly, then you will experience the problem of leakage. It is because the O-ring is not completely sealed.
To make sure that the tubing is fit, you can mark its end—Mark its end about a three-quarter-inch of each line. It means that when you push the pieces together, then this mark of a three-quarter-inch should hide in the fitting.
Working of Quick Connector
In the tubing, the pressure starts to increase. Due to this pressure, the water and air push the collet in the groove. This pressure pushes them inside the fitting.
There are some little teeth present inside the collet. The groves push the collet and compress it. Due to which the little teeth of the collet dig inside the tubing. This process makes the disconnection impossible.
The harder you push, the stronger the collection holds in. The O ring then seals the space which is present between the fitting and tubing. The O ring then makes it water-tight.
How Do You Release a Quick Connect?
When the installation takes place, the tube gets into the fitting. The teeth of the collect grab it tightly. Due to these small teeth, the tube remains in its place. The tube does not slip out of the fitting.
When you apply force and pull on the tubing, the collet teeth start working against you. These teeth apply force and clamps strongly on the tube.
If you want to release a quick connection, you must pull the collect in a downward direction. Pull the collet in the direction of the fitting.
By this, you can release the tubing from the teeth and pull the tubing away from fitting. If you do this, then you can quickly release the fitting. It is a quick and easy way to release a quick connection.
How Long Quick Connect Work?
The quick connections are affected by the environment or excessive movement. The O ring can remain good for a long time. O rings can dry out after many years. Due to which it can cause a slow leak.
If you use the quick connection in the motor at home or in the boat, the motor’s vibration also affects it a lot. The vibration could cause the slipping out of tubbing.
It is because the high vibration or movement makes the tubbing slip from the space. To avoid all of these things, you can use a locking clip. When you use the locking clip, the fitting will not move. The locking clip helps to hold the collect tightly.
It holds the collet up. By this, the teeth of the collet pressed in the tube every time. The tube then did not find any space to slip out. It will help a lot if you use a quick connection at the motor or any vibrating place.
How Do I Get Rid of Stuck Quick-Connect?
In the quick connect, there are two types of fitting. One is male fitting, and the other one is female fitting. There is a small difference between these two fittings.
The only difference between them is the location of threads. If the thread is present outside the fitting, then this is known as male fitting.
On the other hand, if the thread is present inside the fitting, it is known as female fitting. So, if you want to know whether the fitting is male or female, then see the thread’s location in it.
Many times, when the quick connection gets stuck, then any of the male or female parts swell. The balls of steel create divots in the fitting. These steel balls then make the male end swell.
Due to which a lot of pressure gets trapped in it. If only one part got swollen, then remove that part and replace it with a new one. You can get rid of the quick connection in a simple way.
If you want to get rid of it, ensure to put the attachment in it. Put the tip there and push it. You can also put a wooden clamp in it. By putting it, then twist off.
The quick-connect gets released or damaged, and you can get rid of it. By damaging the quick connection, you have to replace it with a new one because this quick connection does not work anymore.
If you do not want it to damage, then pull the collet towards fitting in a downward direction. Pull the collect and tubing at the same time.
The collect should be towards the fitting, and the tubing should be away from it. By this process, you can get rid of quick connections quickly.
Why Does Quick Connect Fitting Get Leak?
The common reason for this problem is that the tubing does not get fixed properly. The tubing does not get pushed completely, and the O ring remains unsealed.
For finding if the tubing fits appropriately or not, you can use this trick. Measure 3/4 inch and draw the line on tubing that is going to be fit. After this, pull the tubing inside the fitting.
If the marked line completely disappears in the fitting, then your tube is properly fit. On the other hand, if the line does not disappear inside the fitting, you need to pull tubing more.
There is another reason for its leakage. In this case, the cutting of tubing matters a lot. If the tubing does not cut properly, then leakage takes place. The tube should be square rather than in a diagonal shape.
It is not cut correctly; then, the O ring remains unsealed. Due to the unsealing of the O ring, the fitting does not take place properly, and you will experience leakage. Sometimes the sharp end of the tubing damages the O ring.
The three main components of quick connect are collet, O ring, and the body. The body or tube goes from the collet to the O ring. From the O ring, it then goes in the fitting body.
By doing this, you have a water-tight seal and use the quick connector easily. For releasing or for getting rid of quick connections, you have to do this process. Pull the collet and tubing both at the same time.
The pulling of the collet should be in the direction of the fitting. And the pulling of tubing should be the opposite of fitting. By this, the teeth inside the collet release the tube. In this way, you can easily get rid of a quick connector. You can replace it with a new one or use it again easily.
